Today I’d like to share with you how I got started making money online with an internet business, but first I want to show you how I went from working 80 hour weeks, to working just a few hours a week, getting paid 5 times more and having more time to spend with my wife and kids. It was a lifestyle I never imagined was possible to have.

As much as I love graphic design, freelancing and being creative, working more than 80 combined hours on my day job and with my freelance business, it was very exhausting. But I had to do it, it was my responsability and was forced to make ends meet, plus my living costs here in Los Angeles is not cheap and a family of 5 and a single income does not help when you’re trying to offer them best lifestyle. So, as you could imagine, the pressure was on and I had to make it happen whether I liked it or not! And Yes! I was making okay money, we had all the things we wanted, a reliable car, a nice house, I was able to give my kids anything they wanted, but in the back of my mid, I was dying, getting burnt out from exhaustion and becoming a real workaholic. I would work non-stop! no time for play time whatsoever! To the point that my kids would even tell me to stop working so much!

That’s when I realized I had to do something different, something way out of the ordinary, But I didn’t know what! After some research, I came across a Network Marketing or Multi Level Marketing company that offered the opportunity to join and make residual income from building a downline of people selling for you. I loved the concept, but guess what! I could not recruit a single person if my life depended on it. I felt so discouraged, my sponsor wasn’t training and I was completely lost and didn’t know how to get things to move forward. Well, I dropped out of that business and never did anything else related to Network Marketing again, cause I was afraid of making the same mistake.

4 to 6 Months Later….

I was more broke than ever before, lost my house in foreclosure, had screwed up credit, blew the engine on my work vehicle, owed taxes to the IRS and barely had enough to feed my family. I had spent endless hours trying to build an opportunity that didn’t generate a single penny in my pocket. That opportuity never went anywhere after that, so I started freelancing again, taking on little small projects, but as you may know, when you’re self employed and you don’t have enough gigs, the income also stops coming in. At this point, I was willing to get a job so I can get things in good standings and back on my feet again, but jobs were limited and I struggled for several weeks before the first job opportunity came up again.

Here is where is gets interesting! I received call from a client who wanted to hire me on a freelance basis, but to make a long story short, after showing him what I can do, he offered me a full time job and I was relieved! But, I would get paid a lot less, and in return have the opportunity to learn the ins and outs of running an internet business directly from someone who was actually doing it. I wasn’t sure what I was getting myself into at the time, but as his graphic designer! I eventually learned the entire process of how to work from home with an internet business. Although it was a pay cut for me, the knowledge and expertise I would attain from this experience would be way more valuable than anything I could ever imagine, and after being there for a while I knew that this was definitely an opportunity of a life time. My jaw dropped!!! when I saw the numbers he was making in his online business from building simple websites.

While Working At My Day Job…

I learned the power of affiliate marketing (the process of promoting other people’s products), how to find a profitable niche, how to build a blog, how to rank a website on the first page of Google, how to generate free web traffic, how to come up with your own digital products to sell, how to sell digital products, how to build a following and how to generate a flow of potential customers using Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, and dozens of other website properties on the internet, which are on top of that 100% free to use and best of all you get to do this from the comfort of your own home.

This J.O.B. (just over broke) was my ticket to freedom! And knew I had to jump on this band wagon! yes, it was risky, because I made less money, but I felt it in my heart that this WAS the way to go! Considering how the internet had been evolving within the last 10 years…it was clear in my mind that room for growth was possible and achievabe, so I went for it!

I tell people, think of it like you’re putting 25 cents into a piggy bank that you can’t open for 3-4 months and after 3-4 months the piggy bank will give you all the money that’s in it plus interest for keeping it there.

At my old job, I did this all day every day! I know how to make money online cause I did it for 2 years straight! I’ts not hard, it just takes time and a lot of patience, anyone can do this. As I’ve taught many friends and family members to do the same. This is the future you’re building here, it’s not a get rich quick scheme, one shot deal and it’s done!
